Summer Homework

Keep Your Brain Active This Summer! 🌞📚

At Beacon Network Schools, we want all of our students to feel confident and ready when the new school year begins. That’s why we’re asking every student to complete some summer homework—just a little bit each week to keep those brains sharp!

Think of it as a way to keep learning fresh, build on what you’ve already worked so hard on, and avoid the “summer slide” (when we forget things we learned during the year). A little practice now means a smoother, stronger start in the fall!

Have a wonderful Summer!

25 26 Important Dates

Registration

Registration dates are

August 5 & August 6: 9:00AM – 2:00PM

Current DPS families – save time during fall registration by updating your student’s information online! By completing this process using your Parent Portal account, you can avoid paper forms and save time at the school during the fall return. Online registration opens July 26! You can register online here:

6th Grade Academy

We are offering 6th Grade Academy on August 4th – August 7th. We will confirm with you during registration. All 6th graders are required to attend.

Optional 1: Math Practice Packet (paper-based)

Play math games, work on puzzles, and practice important skills with your friends and family.  You can complete the printed copy of the packet or you can access the packets using the links below (and solve the problems on your own paper).  Remember to bring the completed packet/work back the first week of school.

Option 2: IXL Practice (Online)

Future 7th and 8th grade students have the option to engage with practice that specifically addresses the most important standards for their math classes the following year. Students have used the IXL program throughout the school year and know that it is adaptive, meaning if they get questions right, they are then given more challenging questions to work with. If students answer a questions incorrectly, IXL will provide them with a thorough explanation regarding how to correctly solve the problem prior to giving them another example. This option is ideal for students who have access to a computer at home, and if such access is not possible, students can log into IXL with their phones. The moodle is the best way to access IXL. The expectation for IXL is that students engage with IXL for a total of 1 hour or a week, or 20 minutes each day Monday-Friday.

Let’s make this summer a productive and enjoyable one for our children. Thank you for your support in fostering their love for learning.
