Innovation Zone Advocacy

We need your help to educate our community and sustain and protect our Innovation Zones. The Denver Public School (DPS) Board will review and process the status of Innovation Zones in May 2021. This process could impact how our Denver Innovation Zone Schools create innovation plans, receive funding and resources for programming, curriculum, hiring and opportunities, and how much involvement that parents, teachers and
schools have in this process.

What Makes a beacon school?

In support of our vision and mission, Beacon Network Schools anchor our daily work in a culture that promotes a growth mindset, prioritizes a transformative team mentality and creates an ever-evolving, intentional learning environment that drives innovative practices and maximizes student engagement. We personalize each individual’s experience through a blended learning format inclusive of challenging academic programming, meaningful character development, and the ongoing use and expansion of one’s critical thinking skill set. We are motivated by data-driven, research-based practices that empower all students to explore and discover their promise and potential.

  • Culture Drives our Performance.
  • Growth Mindset Creates our Solutions.
  • Our Teams Lead Our Transformation.
  • Blended Learning is Our Path to Personalization.
  • Data Informs Our Instruction.
  • Social Emotional Learning Builds Our Character.
  • Rich and Varied Learning Experiences Motivate Us.

Pillars of Personalized Learning

Blended Learning

Utilizing differentiated one-to-one lessons structured by internal staff, each student moves independently through the coursework receiving additional assistance or advanced learning opportunities when applicable.

Enrichments Opportunities

Quarterly, students are provided with the opportunity to enroll in one enrichment class, exposing them to new interests or furthering their previous experiences in one or more of the five extended learning arenas.

Character development

By formally measuring the five BNS character traits on a regular basis, students are provided with ongoing feedback related to their growth and understanding in these important developmental areas.
